Grenville has been a member of the band for forty five years. From 1969-1984
his career in the textiles industry took him all over the world but Grenville
continued to be involved with the band during his many visits to home.
From 1984 he has been the principal cornet player and has held several
office positions in the committee including chairman. He is currently the
bands secretary - a position held for six years. Grenville played a crucial
role to recruit Mr. James Kitchen as Musical Director.
Grenville has also played in the Northern Ireland Territorial Army Staff
Band for seventeen years. He has played at the Kneller Hall on three
occasions and has played in concerts all over the United Kingdom,
Europe the Falkland Islands and at a private concert for the late
Queen Mother at Clarence House, London. Grenville has another
important hobby and is a full member of the English Kennel Club,
London. He often shows and judges dogs at international level throughout
the world. His favourite breeds are the pastoral and working group.
This includes a variety of dogs such as:
Collies, Sheepdogs, Welsh Corgies, Boxers, Dobermanns
and Great Danes
